How To Socialize Your Dog With Other Dogs
Is your dog great with other people but horrible with other dogs? Dogs are territorial animals, both of the home and the family.
Dogs feel they need to protect both, making it difficult to relate with new pet.
In my own opinion, you can get your dog to get along with other dogs, it all depend on how you raise them.
Do you want to know how to socialize your dog with other dog(s?).
Perhaps a few basic tips and steps will help out.
1.
Do not bring alone with your current pets when you pick up your new pet.
Also, take the blanket of your current dog or try to wear your cloth that has the smell of your current dog (either you pet or hug them), these will make the new dog smell the other dogs on your cloths and have an idea of what is in store for him.
2.
Be sure of the safety of both animals and yourself.
Beginning by making sure that the puppy will be safe.
Put your dog in separate room or bedroom lockup then bring in the new puppy inside and set him on the floor so he can explore.
3.
Introduce your dog to the new puppy in a confined area.
After about 30 to 40 minutes, put the new puppy in a crate in the center of the sitting room.
Use a big crate so that the puppy will have personal space so that other pets can see and smell him.
4.
Next is to release the other dogs for them to explore the new pet.
By now the other pet will be excited to play with the new pet.
Give them a treat if there is not sign of aggressive behavior.
5.
After an hour or two release the new puppy from his crate.
There will be tense in the house just be calm and be alert, should there be any aggressive immediately separate them.
Final point, there will be days when the dogs are going to feud.
Some animals are not just good to socializing with other animals but a lot of patience and little direction will make your household pets live peaceable most time.
When things want to go out of hand, just put the animals in their separate areas for a bit and when things get cool, they will be friends in no time.
