Pit Bull and Rottweiler Liabilities Not Covered

There are 2 breeds of dogs that are responsible for the majority of fatal dog attacks in the United States.
Pit Bulls were responsible for 52 deaths and Rottweilers were responsible for 12 deaths over the last 3 years (as reported by dogsbite.
org).
In an astounding survey by the US Centers for Disease Control, there were 800,000 dog bites that required medical attention.
If you or a loved one has been a victim of a dog bite in Southern California you may be able to obtain a monetary compensation for the injury, and the trauma incurred.
Personal Injury Attorneys specialize in this type of injury.
Tragically, what they tend to see is that a large majority of dog bite victims are small children.
Small children tend to want to play with dogs and are more likely to make sudden impulsive moves that can cause a dog to become frightened, or provoked.
Children generally do not know the warning signs that a dog may be ready to attack.
However, in the case of pit bulls, many have attacked totally unprovoked.
Once a dog attacks, children are just not able to protect themselves from an animal that may outweigh them by as much as 30 or 40 pounds.
Pit bull attacks occurred more on adults than small children.
In fact, six of those who died were 65 or older, and two were attacked in their own yards! These attacks may not come with any warning at all.
Even though the breed have predominantly attacked adults, they are also responsible for some of the most traumatic injuries to children.
When a Pit Bull attacks a child, it is usually in the presence of an adult who is unable to defend the child against these large powerful dogs.
These attacks are so intense, and so frequently result in severe maiming or death, that there is a movement to eliminate the breed.
Part of the problem in enacting laws to control these dangerous and unpredictable animals is that there is no clear-cut genetic standard for what constitutes a pit bull.
It is important for homeowners to understand that most insurance companies specifically exclude Pit Bulls, Rottweilers, American bull dogs, and huskies from the liability portion of the policy.
The owners end up being personally responsible.
