Dog owners enjoy bringing their four-legged companions to dog-friendly events, especially if these events help raise money and awareness for needy humans or animals. In New York, numerous organizations throw fundraising events such as sponsored walks and canine carnivals to raise money for animal and human causes. - Strut Your Mutt is a bi-coastal event that takes place in Santa Monica and New York in mid-September. Organized by Best Friends Animal Society, Strut Your Mutt is a sponsored dog walk to raise money for Best Friends' New York branch. Activities include dog massages, training demonstrations, doggie yoga, free treats, food, music, contests and stalls selling dog products and accessories. Each registered walker receives a Strut Your Mutt T-shirt, and Best Friends features the top individual fundraiser from each city in their members' magazine.
