How to Choose Dog Food & Treats

Feeding your dog only protein based products will result in an unhealthy, aggressive dog.
Feeding your dog foods that contain only feet, beaks and poor grade parts of other animals will result in health issues and shorten life expectancy.
You want to avoid pet foods that contain food coloring, harmful preservatives, fillers like corn and soybean.
There have been reports of manufacturers that have put plastic into their dog food products.
Start by reading the ingredients.
Protein should be listed first.
If you can't figure out what the ingredient is, Google it (put it in the search bar of your computer).
If the ingredient is a mineral or vitamin great, if it's MSG (monosodium glutamate) don't use it.
If the food has a shelf life of a Twinkie you don't want it.
The food is dead, no live enzymes to aid your dog's body in staying healthy.
I read the ingredients every time I purchase my dog food.
Dog food companies are bought out by other companies or new management decides to change the recipe.
Why? They are a company trying to make a profit, always looking for ways to cut costs and improve the bottom line.
This is what profitable companies should do.
Just because the dog food company is a well known brand doesn't qualify the dog food as the best for your money.
In fact it might be the food that costs more and has less nutrition.
The more a food is processed the less nutrition it has to offer.
Dry food is cooked and is mostly free of enzymes and will not spoil as quickly.
Example: A banana will become spoiled if not used within its ripe stage.
However, if processed by dehydration it will have a longer shelf life but will loose some of its nutrition.
There is no need to refrigerate the dry food since it does not spoil in a short period of time.
There are dry dog foods that have expiration dates and that means that the manufacture does not use as many chemical preservatives.
There are many recipes for making your own dog food which would be the best for your pet, but I believe it is important to also feed dry food.
If your pet ever becomes ill where an animal hospital stay is required they will not feed your pet the same raw organic food.
It is difficult for the vet since other pet patients want it and the food can only be kept out for less than a couple of hours (bacteria).
You want your dog to eat when it needs it most, so a combination is smart.
There are raw organic dog foods already prepared and frozen.
You just thaw it.

First ingredient protein great.
Google tocopherols...
it's vitamin E, great.
This company tells me in parentheses what the laymen term is, I like that.
Yes I would feed this brand to my dogs.
The better the dog food the smaller the stools, that means your dog is absorbing more nutrition.
The smaller the serving size means higher quality food.
Dogs who are fed great diets live longer, stay healthier and happier.
