Anti Bark Collars Are a Great If You Need to Leave Your Dog at Home Because You Have to Work
When you acquired your new pet dog, did you ask about it's barking? I wouldn't think so.
You go first by the size of the dog, then by the look of it and does it seem to like you, but I'll bet you never thought to ask about barking.
A lot can be down to your living situation.
Do you have to go out to work and leave the dog alone? This could provoke separation anxiety in your dog.
Perhaps the dog is just plain bored which could be why it barks to get some sort of reaction from somebody, anybody would do.
Even when a dog is being scolded for barking it doesn't differentiate between different types of attention.
He probably doesn't care that you are telling him off, at least you are there and you are talking to him, that's all that matters.
It's not all that matters though.
He has to learn that this is just not the way to go on.
He cannot expect to just bark and everything will be as he wants.
You know how dogs in general bark at anyone who comes to the house, not of the family? Your dog will generally bark at the mailman, but when he was little how did he start to do that? I think that he did it once because he didn't know who it was and after that he thought that the mailman went away again because of him.
He will have it fixed in his mind that he can be responsible for getting rid of strange people.
Somehow you have to get it across to him that the mailman is not a threat to his family.
Naturally you don't want to curb his protective instincts.
After all, in some cases this is why people have dogs, especially if they have to leave their house unattended during the day.
If you had a remote control mechanism you could give him a little shock when the mailman came, of course you would have to be home to do that.
If you aren't at home you should have an automatic shock collar which would just recognize that he was barking and tell him not to, irrespective of why or who he was barking at.
It is an unfortunate thing but it appears that complaints about incessant dog barking to the police is the second most common report, this is second only to alarms going off.
If your barking dog is reported continually then you are likely to get quite expensive fines and this can be painful to the wallet.
At the very least it can lead to strained relationships between you and your neighbors which can be very uncomfortable and totally unnecessary.
