What the Raw Food Diet For Dogs Really Means

Most pet owners may cringe at the thought of raw food for pets and even more so when we say that we feed our pets, well raw food.
Before you start hauling out the bucket for you to barf in yourself, let's set the record straight and make sure we're on the same page.
No, we are not talking about the type of barf that you regurgitate when you aren't feeling too good.
Some people call it barf which stands for Bones and Raw Food or Biologically Appropriate Raw Food.
In the pet world, you give your pet food that is uncooked instead of the usual processed commercial pet foods you find in the market.
This is a much preferred type of diet for many pet owners due to the rising numbers of unhealthy pets we have today.
Much of the commercial pet food that we buy contain chemicals and additives which can really shorten the lifespan of your pet; not to mention give it diseases that can be life threatening.
The practice of giving pet's raw food is not all that new though it started out only in the 1930's.
Even long before we discovered that raw food was the best for our pets they already knew it.
Most of the domesticated animals we have today hail from the wild.
Their ancestors weren't fed anything commercially processed.
What they ate were the things that they found around them or hunted down.
It was completely normal for them to eat a carcass and the vegetables found in its stomach.
On other days, they have not eaten anything at all.
There is nothing unusual about feeding pets raw food since animals were built to eat raw as shown by their ancestors.
In fact pets that are fed this type of diet are shown to be healthier, live longer and have more energy.
They require less maintenance since they are able to keep themselves naturally clean too.
You can say good bye to dog breath and large amounts of waste.
Coats become softer and shinier, teeth have no tartar.
You see, there isn't really anything wrong with feeding your animals they type of barf that we are talking about.
As a matter of fact it can really help get your dog into better shape so start your dog on the raw diet soon.
