How To Stop Your Golden Retriever From Biting

To be bitten by a dog is serious.
It can be very dangerous and most dogs have sharp teeth.
Even a scratch from their teeth can turn into a problem.
If you don't stop your golden retriever from biting and take control over your dog he will develop a bad habit of biting you or others and it may become a permanent behaviour.
Train them when they are still young to establish appropriate behaviour.
Good solid training when they are young assures good solid behaviour when they are older.
It is essential to stop your golden retriever from biting at a very young age.
Many different approaches, techniques and information is available everywhere.
As with everything else not all is effective.
If you as an owner approach this aspect with patience and understanding you can teach your dog not to bite.
Dogs also need an outlet to get rid of their frustration.
The level of frustration can be read through their behaviour, they would growl or even bite when angry and frustrated.
Biting though shows you that it is much more serious.
When they go into biting mode they tell us that they are highly frustrated! When you become an owner of a puppy you also become the mother.
Therefore it is the owner's responsibility to teach the puppy how to control its anger and frustration.
Dogs are social and you have to introduce your puppy to other dogs so they can learn how to behave amongst others, and that it is not OK to bite everything or everybody because it's frustrated.
Take your dog out to open spaces, to the park where other dogs are to make sure it can interact with others.
By doing this your dog learns how to react and behave with other dogs present.
Not all of us are so lucky to have parks where other dogs hang out, so it's the owner's responsibility to stimulate his dog.
Have little huddle play games with your canine.
Play the game as if you are a dog; if the golden retriever bites you make little yelping sounds like a puppy.
They will immediately get the message that they did something wrong and stop.
After a few times they will learn that this is wrong and move on to other activities.
Golden Retrievers have to trust and have the respect of their owners in order to stop your golden retriever from biting.
Dogs have a natural order of dominance that they follow and respect.
They learn this order from other puppies.
Nobody can stop misbehaviour of Golden Retrievers by hitting, shouting or slapping.
By acting like this the dog will lose trust in its owner.
In the long run the dogs distrust will lead to lack of respect and eventually it turns into fear.
Any animal when experiencing fear will go into attacking mode and in this case dogs will bite to defend themselves.
To handle a dog who does not respect you, will most probably make the training a challenge but it is possible, and your dog will still love you.
Not all biting and nipping is harmful, you will notice when it becomes a naughty streak, and for part of being a dog means you do bite and nip! A bad habit should be picked up at an early age otherwise it can turn into a problem when your canine is older and have much larger teeth.
The challenge of having a pet is to be patient, consistent and repeat lessons frequently.
Pets and owners spend lots of time together and bad habits should be noticed, when biting starts you need to correct it and stop your golden retriever from biting immediately.
Apply the right training methods in order to stop your golden retriever from biting.
Never use abusive ways or hit your dog.
Instead, be patient and teach it to behave and interact as they are supposed to.
Before you know you will have a loving and well-behaved Golden Retriever.
