Puppy Potty Training - The Most Common Mistakes People Make in Potty Training Their Puppy
Young puppies are very playful and predictable and housebreaking them is an easily done task if it is started early and done correctly.
Dogs by instinct do not wish to soil in the same place where they eat and sleep, so they will want to relieve themselves away from those areas.
There is an easy proven system on how to quickly potty train your puppy, however people make common mistakes over and over and process seems to take forever.
Here is a list of the most common mistakes people make when trying to housebreak their puppy.
Number one: Not watching for when the puppy wakes up from a nap.
The remedy for this one is to have the puppy take his nap in a crate with the door shut and he will whine when he wakes up and wants to go out to urinate.
Number two: Yelling and hitting the puppy after he soils on the floor inside the house.
Solution: this treatment just confuses him and the puppy will not understand why he is being scolded.
It's best to just immediately clean it up and take him outside to the potty area and start over with the correct process.
Number three: Not following a proven system and being consistent with it.
The solution is to have a plan to take the puppy on a leash outside to the potty area at certain times throughout the day and using a reward and praise system will increase your puppy potty training success.
Number four: Not using praise and/or a reward.
The solution is to always encourage him to go in the desired potty area and praise him afterwards.
Using a reward or treat is encouraged, but not recommended to be given every single time only occasionally.
Keep these things in mind and you'll soon have a happy household with a nicely trained puppy!
